My Enemy, Myself
So why is it that after having a brilliant session at the gym (with treadmill, weights and a cleansing eucalyptus steam) does one then feel irresistibly compelled to down an entire bag of licorice and a box of Cheez-Its? So being thus aware of the ghost in the machine.... how does one get rid of it? Why isn't the natural course of action positive? Suggestions?

It's that damned self-destructive trigger we have. Lord knows we can't actually succeed in having a wonderful work-out. Must ruin with E.L. Fudges and toll-house cookies and beer.
Oh I have the same problem! I say to myself "I just ran 5 miles, I can have 3 slices of pizza. Ain't no thang."
I hate it!
Don't worry about it. Just change your mindset. You work out so you can eat licorice and Cheez-Its. Why deny yourselves the good things in life?
Ah, ICM ! I like the way you think.
Ditto. That just means I need to work out 24/7 to compensate for all the shi* I eat.
I like the way I think too! :-)
Seriously...If I ran five miles, and then didn't let myself eat pizza...I don't know what I'd do.
